Video Streaming/Playback Problem

Postby pasc » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:11 pm

Well, I'm really happy with my CloudFTP.

However as of late it has come to my attention, that

whenever I stream a Film (.mp4) (lets say 1 and a half hour for example) the CloudFTP just locks up after several minutes.
Its impossible to watch a Movie throughout the end without any interruption due to CloudFTP locking up.

I tried both, Adhoc and Wifi Mode, while Adhoc seems more reliable, it still doesn't solve the problem.
It neither matters how far the iPhone or CloudFTP sans 1TB Harddrive are away from each other, it always ends in the CloudFTP locking (can be seen because the little boxed wifi symbol doesn't blink anymore andthe CloudFTP Html page isn't accessible either.

This was tried using iPhone's Mobile Safari Browser and a HDMI out to TV.

It also seems that the freezing has been part of this discussion:
post770.html?hilit=freezing#p770
"EDIT: It seems the longer the unit stays on, the more common the freezing up. Could it be overheating due to a hardware problem?"
I would really appreciate any ideas on this, since it is really annoying.

I have other similar devices like the Airstash or my Wi-Drive and it is not a problem to watch a movie through either.

Thanks for any reply in advance

Any update on this ?

The lock up of the CloudFTP sometimes seems to also happen when I just leave it on with my (new shiny :D ) 2TB Verbatim Drive.

However with long videos playing back (1 hour +) it is more noticeable.

The only thing to get one out of that lock is to hold the power button and release it after some secs

Hello pasc,

What type of video format are you playing? Also is this a 720p or 1080p hd video?

mp4 video 650x480 resolution

also like I said the freezing / lockup of the device also happens when I just leave it sitting there on my desk for several minutes / time varys really...

Maybe I should send you a video or something.

Isn't there some logging option the CloudFTP has so I can send you a log file ?
